SNAKES!!!

Death rattle.
I am a snake.
I will slither
and curl up
in the warmest
place I can only
because I hate
to be cold. Like
I can’t help
not feeling
the kiss of sun
on my scales — or the quake
of my tail
in forest silence.
I will taste the air
with forked tongue.
